How to get listed, and how to correct data
How to get listed
Nothing needs to be paid or submitted for a company to appear here. Profiles are compiled from public sources by QA Rating. A company qualifies when all of the following hold:
- Software testing is sold as a service, not only as part of a development contract.
- The company has a working website that states what it does.
- At least 3 independent sources describe it: a registry entry, a review platform profile, a case study, a certificate register, press coverage.
- Enough of those sources agree to fill the fields listed on the methodology page.
To propose a company, send its website and the sources to hello@qa-rating.com. Sending it does not put the company in the catalog: the sources are checked first, and a company described by fewer than 3 of them is not listed.
How to correct data
Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
A correction request needs three things, and is not applied without them:
- The profile and the exact field.
- The value that should be there.
- A public page that states it. A page on the vendor site counts for most fields; certificates need the register entry, not a statement about it.
The source is added to the profile with the date it was read, so anyone can check the correction against the same page it came from. A correction that changes wording and not a field does not move the date on the profile.
What can be paid for
Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
Paid options, all labelled on the page where they appear:
- Extended profile. Logo, case studies, a contact form on the profile and a longer editorial note. It changes nothing in the fields, the tags or the order.
- Lead forms. Requests from guides and rankings are routed by how a company's fields match the request, never by what it pays.
- Sponsor slot. A separate block above the catalog list, marked as a sponsor slot and kept out of every ranking.
- Sponsored guides and datasets. Marked on the page itself, with no say over what the page states.
What cannot be bought at any price: a position in a ranking, an applicability tag, a dofollow link, or the removal of a sponsor label. Outbound links from paid placements carry a sponsored link attribute.
The publisher is named on the about page, and the same rules apply to any company the publisher owns.
Questions
- Can a company pay to be ranked higher?
- Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
- Can a vendor edit its own profile?
- No. A vendor can send a correction with a public source, and it is applied once the source is checked. Direct editing would make the same field mean different things on different profiles.
- Why is a field on our profile empty?
- Because no public source states it. A vendor claim alone does not fill a field, so the field stays empty, and an empty field is never counted against the company. Certificates are the one place where a claim is printed rather than dropped: it appears under its own heading, marked as claimed and linked to the page the company makes it on, and it is not counted as a certificate anywhere.
- How do we get removed from the catalog?
- Write to hello@qa-rating.com from a company address. The profile is removed with the next build, and the rankings it appeared in are rebuilt without it.
