Delivery location versus headquarters
This axis groups companies by where a team delivers testing work inside the United States, a field recorded separately from headquarters, which names where a company is legally based. Of the 54 companies on this page, 31 are headquartered in the United States itself. Ten are headquartered in India, four in the United Kingdom, two in Canada, two in Vietnam, and one each in Ireland, Uruguay, Colombia, Portugal and the Philippines, and every one of the 54 reports a delivery location inside the US, which is what places it on this page. Headquarters names a legal seat, and the geography axis names where a team is staffed; the two point to different countries for 23 of the 54 companies here, and each of those 23 qualifies for this page through the delivery location alone.
Why the Signs a BAA / GDPR DPA field carries extra weight here
A business associate agreement is a commitment tied to US federal health privacy law, and it applies when a vendor handles protected health information for a US healthcare client. Every company on this page delivers testing work from inside the US for at least one location, which puts each one in the position a healthcare buyer would check before sharing patient data for a testing engagement. That background is why the BAA half of the Signs a BAA / GDPR DPA field carries more direct weight on a page organized around US delivery than it would on a page built around a different criterion. The field is unrecorded for 50 of the 54 companies on this page. An unrecorded field is not a denial that such an agreement exists, only the absence of a published source confirming it.
Where a US delivery location combines with other regions
15 of the 54 companies on this page also carry the Nearshore for the EU tag, each keeping at least one delivery location in a country covered by that tag in addition to its US location. 11 of the 54 companies carry the Nearshore for the USA tag, read from a delivery location elsewhere in the Americas. Four of those eleven, ScienceSoft, a1qa, GlobalStep and Side, also carry the Nearshore for the EU tag, so their footprint spans the US, at least one EU or adjacent country, and at least one other country in the Americas. The remaining seven companies with the Nearshore for the USA tag combine a US delivery location with an Americas location and no EU or adjacent one. Side also carries the Enterprises tag, the only company on this page to do so.
Security testing without a matching certificate
Edgescan, NetSPI, Bishop Fox and Cobalt carry the Security focus tag alongside ScienceSoft, the full set of five companies on this page with that tag. One of the five holds a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate; the other four meet the tag through the penetration testing route instead, since the condition accepts either the certificate or the pentest service, together with a published case study.
Dedicated teams as a distinct discipline
TestFort, QAble and ImpactQA carry the Embedded team model tag alongside a1qa. Four more companies on this page carry it as well: Testlio, QA Wolf, QASource and Ubertesters, which brings the tag to 8 of the 54 companies here. The tag reads two fields at once, the dedicated team engagement model and a published case study, so a company can offer the model and still miss the tag for want of a case study.
Device labs and crowdtesting overlap once
QualityLogic, Ubertesters, PLUS QA and iXie Gaming carry the Device lab coverage tag, the full set of four on this page. Applause and Ubertesters carry the Crowdtesting at scale tag, the full set of two. Ubertesters is the only company on this page carrying both tags, combining a published device lab with a published crowdtesting pool. The other three device lab companies do not carry the crowdtesting tag, and Applause does not carry the device lab tag.
Companies with no tag on this page
Indium Software, Q-Pros, Coderio, Kualitatem, Lotus Quality Assurance, Halo Security, Testrig Technologies, iBeta Quality Assurance, AGEST Vietnam, Bugcrowd, Pointwest, QualiZeal, RTTS, Testbytes, TestingXperts and TestVagrant carry none of the nine tags used on this page. Sixteen of the 54 companies on this page fall into this group, more than carry the Enterprises, Crowdtesting at scale and Device lab coverage tags combined. Seven of these sixteen are headquartered outside the United States, a larger share than the 23 in 54 the page holds as a whole.
How this ranking was put together
Membership is computed from the profile, not chosen: companies appear here when they have a delivery location in one of the countries the USA covers, as their own profile states. Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
The table compares the fields that decide this axis: delivery locations, published rates, team size, plus the number of verified reviews on external platforms. Rates, minimum project size and onboarding time carry the source they came from next to the value.
- Automation first: Test automation is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a coverage or regression time metric.
- Nearshore for the EU: At least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova.
- Nearshore for the USA: At least one delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America.
- Embedded team model: The dedicated team engagement model is offered, and at least one published case study.
- Performance engineering: Performance testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a throughput or latency metric.
- Security focus: Security testing is offered, together with either penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, and at least one published case study.
- Device lab coverage: A published device lab of 100 real devices or more, with a source.
- Crowdtesting at scale: The crowdtesting engagement model is offered, and a published tester pool of 10,000 people or more, with a source.
- Enterprises: A verified ISO/IEC 27001 or SOC 2 certificate, a published team size of 201-500 or larger, and at least one named client that is a publicly traded company, each with a source. A company that publishes no team size does not carry this tag.
The criteria for this axis are on the methodology page, together with field definitions and the rule for editorial order. Changes of order are recorded in the changelog.
Questions
- US delivery is the expensive option on most shortlists. Where does the entry ticket actually start?
- At 1,000 US dollars, and it climbs steeply from there. Seven companies publish that floor, and eleven publish 5,000 dollars, the most common figure here. Seven more publish 10,000 dollars, level with the 1,000 dollar floor, and one publishes 5,995 dollars, just above that pair. Above them, two publish 25,000 dollars, two publish 50,000 dollars, one publishes 75,000 dollars, one publishes 100,000 dollars and one publishes 250,000 dollars, which is 250 times the lowest floor recorded. Twenty-one companies publish no floor at all. The field holds the smallest engagement a company says it will accept, so it marks a threshold rather than a price.
- We are a scaleup, past the startup stage and short of an enterprise. Does anything point at companies used to that size?
- One profile names that stage directly. Nine companies name startups and enterprises together. Ten name enterprises alone. One names startups alone, and one names startups together with agencies rather than enterprises. Thirty-two name no client stage at all. The single profile that names a scaleup names all three stages at once, so it does not single the middle out either. A buyer in the middle is choosing among profiles that describe the two ends of the range and one that describes the whole of it.
- Whose names can we actually open and check before we shortlist?
- Each name comes with the source it was read from, a case study, a testimonial or a published client list, so every one of them can be opened. Thirty-nine profiles carry at least one name. Three of those carry 15, 13 and 12 names, and no other profile reaches ten; below the top three the counts run from one to nine. Fifteen profiles carry no name at all. The field holds the name and its citation, without the year of the work or how much of it there was.

Every fact about a company comes from a listed source. A field without a source stays empty. A certificate counts as confirmed only when a registry, certificate or auditor report backs it; a certificate the company only claims about itself is published separately, under that label. Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
