What sits behind the base list

A profile earns a place in this ranking when its own site lists API testing as a service. That is the entry test, and the applicability tags below run on published evidence rather than a self-description. Nearshore for the EU is the largest tag on this axis, covering 18 of the 38 companies, built on at least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova. Automation first is the second-largest tag, covering 15 of the 38 companies. Nine of the fifteen companies carrying the automation first tag also carry the nearshore for the EU tag, among them ScienceSoft, DeviQA and BetterQA. The other six companies carrying the automation first tag deliver from outside that footprint, among them QualityLogic, QASource and BugRaptors.

Where the boundaries fall inside the list

Security focus covers 7 of the 38 companies: ScienceSoft, DeviQA, QA Madness, Qualysec, QATestLab, QAwerk and BetterQA. The tag requires security testing offered together with penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, plus a published case study. Performance engineering covers 8 of the 38 companies: QualityLogic, TestFort, QASource, BugRaptors, QATestLab, Soflab Technology, MuukTest and Qytera Quality GmbH. QATestLab is the only company on this list carrying both tags. The other six companies with security focus do not also carry performance engineering, and the other seven companies with performance engineering do not also carry security focus.

Embedded team model covers 8 of the 38 companies: DeviQA, QA Madness, TestFort, QASource, a1qa, QAwerk, SnoopGame and ImpactQA, each with the dedicated team model offered together with a published case study. Device lab coverage covers 5 of the 38 companies: DeviQA, QualityLogic, QATestLab, SnoopGame and PLUS QA, each with a published device lab of 100 real devices or more. Two of the five device lab companies, DeviQA and QualityLogic, also carry the automation first tag. The device lab criterion has no direct connection to an API testing engagement, and the tag appears on this list only because each of the five companies also lists API testing among its services.

Nearshore for the USA covers 5 of the 38 companies: ScienceSoft, QASource, a1qa, ILoveMyQA and SnoopGame, each with a delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America. Fast onboarding covers 2 of the 38 companies, QATestLab and CHEQ Systems, each with a published onboarding time of 14 days or less. Accessibility specialists covers 1 of the 38 companies, Vervali Systems, the only company on this list with a published accessibility testing case study reporting a conformance metric. Regulated industries covers 1 of the 38 companies, BetterQA, the only company on this list with at least two verified certificates among ISO 13485, HITRUST CSF, PCI QSA and ISO/IEC 27001.

Companies without an applicability tag

Eight of the 38 companies carry no applicability tag on this ranking: Q-Pros, Coderio, Testrig Technologies, Testriq QA Lab, iBeta Quality Assurance, RTTS, Testbytes and Zoonou. Three of the eight hold a verified certificate: TMMi at Q-Pros, ISO/IEC 17025 at iBeta Quality Assurance and CREST at Zoonou. None of the ten tags tracked on this page accept those certificate types on their own, so a verified certificate outside the accepted list does not clear a tag by itself. The tag still needs the matching service, the matching case study, or both.

What the list does not show

A verified certificate is recorded for 5 of the 38 companies and missing for the other 33. A signed BAA or GDPR data processing agreement is unrecorded for all 38 companies on this list. Case studies are unpublished for 14 of the 38 companies, and a published rate is missing for 11 of the 38. Named clients are missing for 8 of the 38, and the industries field is blank for 1 of the 38. Each gap records what was published where checked, and each is a question that belongs in the first call with the company.

How this ranking was put together

Membership is computed from the profile, not chosen: companies appear here when they list API testing among their services, as their own profile states. Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.

The table compares the fields that decide this axis: frameworks, case studies, published rates, plus the number of verified reviews on external platforms. Rates, minimum project size and onboarding time carry the source they came from next to the value.

  • Nearshore for the EU: At least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova.
  • Automation first: Test automation is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a coverage or regression time metric.
  • Embedded team model: The dedicated team engagement model is offered, and at least one published case study.
  • Performance engineering: Performance testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a throughput or latency metric.
  • Security focus: Security testing is offered, together with either penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, and at least one published case study.
  • Device lab coverage: A published device lab of 100 real devices or more, with a source.
  • Nearshore for the USA: At least one delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America.
  • Fast onboarding: A published onboarding time of 14 days or less, with a source.

The criteria for this axis are on the methodology page, together with field definitions and the rule for editorial order. Changes of order are recorded in the changelog.

Questions

Which tools does a company here actually name for endpoint work?
Fewer than you would expect from a list defined by this service. The named framework lists on these profiles lean toward browser and device work: Selenium appears on 26 of the 38 profiles and Appium on 20, while the tools built for calling an endpoint appear far less often, Postman on 10 profiles, SoapUI on 5 and REST Assured on 6. Ten companies name at least one of those three, and nine name no framework at all. A framework list here describes a company's browser automation more reliably than its API practice, and a missing Postman or REST Assured is not evidence a company works without them.
Are there published case studies describing API work in particular?
Two, across the whole list. The 38 companies publish 69 case studies between them, 24 companies publish any at all, and exactly two of those 69 titles name API work; the rest describe regression suites, load runs, mobile releases and platform migrations. A buyer who wants to read an account of endpoint work before the first call has two to read here, and for every other company the shape of an API engagement is something to ask about rather than something to look up.
Does a company that offers API testing cover contract stability, malformed input handling, and load against an endpoint?
Those are three different jobs, built with different tools and different skills, and this list separates only the third. The performance engineering tag reaches 8 of the 38 companies and asks for a published case study reporting a throughput or latency metric, so load work has evidence behind it for those eight. Contract stability and input handling have no tag, no field and no published metric anywhere on this page, which leaves them indistinguishable between one company and the next. Asking which of the three a vendor has done, and against what kind of interface, separates candidates that this list does not.
An API usually exists to serve something else, a web interface, a mobile app, or another system that calls it. Does a company's listing say whether it takes on that calling layer within the same engagement?
It does not. The catalog records API testing as one line among a company's listed services, with no field showing whether the same engagement also covers the interface, app, or system that calls the API being tested. A vendor might handle only the API in isolation, or might take on the full path from the caller through to the endpoint; nothing published here distinguishes the two setups.

How to choose a vendor on this axis

Published by QA RatingPublished on September 3, 2026Updated on September 5, 2026

Every fact about a company comes from a listed source. A field without a source stays empty. A certificate counts as confirmed only when a registry, certificate or auditor report backs it; a certificate the company only claims about itself is published separately, under that label. Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
