Where delivery locations concentrate
Nearshore for the EU is the largest applicability tag on this page, carried by 16 of the 41 companies. Nearshore for the USA follows at 8. Three companies, ScienceSoft, imbus AG and MTP, carry both nearshore tags at once. Every other company in either nearshore group carries only one of the two, so a nearshore choice on this page usually means a single region. Twelve of the 41 companies carry no applicability tag at all: their profiles do not meet any of the nine conditions tracked on this page, which is not evidence that they cannot deliver mobile testing, only that no qualifying evidence is published for these specific tags.
Automation, performance and the embedded team model
Automation first is carried by 15 of the 41 companies, the second-largest group on the page. Performance engineering covers 6 companies. Three of them, QASource, BugRaptors and Abstracta, also carry Automation first, while the other three, including TestFort, do not. Embedded team model covers 8 companies. Five of them carry Automation first as well, while the other three, including TestFort, do not.
Security focus and the four-tag companies
Security focus is carried by 4 companies: ScienceSoft, QA Madness, QAwerk and BetterQA. Each of these four also carries four applicability tags in total, tied for the highest count on this page. QASource, which does not carry Security focus, also holds four tags, so the four-tag group in this composition is five companies rather than these four alone. Regulated industries requires two or more verified certificates from ISO 13485, HITRUST CSF, PCI QSA and ISO/IEC 27001, and is met by one of the four, BetterQA, whose confirmed certificates are ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
Crowdtesting at scale and device lab coverage
Crowdtesting at scale is met by 2 companies, Applause and Ubertesters. Device lab coverage, a count of real devices instead of testers, is met by 2 companies, PLUS QA and Ubertesters. Ubertesters is the only company in this composition holding both of these tags at once: PLUS QA carries Device lab coverage without Crowdtesting at scale, and Applause carries Crowdtesting at scale without Device lab coverage, since a tester pool and a device lab are recorded as separate claims.
What the field data shows and what it does not
Headquarters concentrate in two countries: 17 of the 41 companies are based in the United States and 9 in India, together accounting for 26 of the 41. The remaining 15 are spread across ten other countries, from three each in Romania and two each in Poland, the United Kingdom and Ukraine, down to one company apiece in six further countries. External reviews on an outside platform, the field this page's order is based on, are unrecorded for 10 of the 41 companies and recorded, at whatever count, for the other 31. Two fields are close to universal: industries served are unrecorded for only 2 of the 41 companies, while whether a company signs a BAA or a GDPR data processing agreement is unrecorded for all 41, without exception. A published framework list is missing for 8 of the 41 companies. Each of these gaps reflects what has been published for this composition, independent of whether the underlying capability exists. Full definitions for every tag on this page are set out in the methodology.
How this ranking was put together
Membership is computed from the profile, not chosen: companies appear here when they list Mobile app testing among their services, as their own profile states. Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
The table compares the fields that decide this axis: frameworks, case studies, published rates, plus the number of verified reviews on external platforms. Rates, minimum project size and onboarding time carry the source they came from next to the value.
- Nearshore for the EU: At least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova.
- Automation first: Test automation is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a coverage or regression time metric.
- Embedded team model: The dedicated team engagement model is offered, and at least one published case study.
- Nearshore for the USA: At least one delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America.
- Performance engineering: Performance testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a throughput or latency metric.
- Security focus: Security testing is offered, together with either penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, and at least one published case study.
- Crowdtesting at scale: The crowdtesting engagement model is offered, and a published tester pool of 10,000 people or more, with a source.
- Device lab coverage: A published device lab of 100 real devices or more, with a source.
- Regulated industries: At least two verified certificates from ISO 13485, HITRUST CSF, PCI QSA and ISO/IEC 27001.
The criteria for this axis are on the methodology page, together with field definitions and the rule for editorial order. Changes of order are recorded in the changelog.
Questions
- Does a mobile testing vendor's profile show which real devices or operating system versions its tests actually run against?
- This page records only whether a company publishes a device lab of real hardware. It does not record which operating system versions, screen sizes or manufacturer skins a given test run covered. A device lab count is the sole field here that touches hardware at all, and a profile without one is silent on whether a release was checked on a physical handset or an emulator. Before assigning mobile work, ask for the device and OS matrix a team ran against the last comparable release.
- Can a company's listing show whether it tests iOS, Android or both platforms?
- Mobile app testing is recorded here as one service line, with no separate field for an iOS practice and an Android practice. The two platforms use different toolchains, app store review processes and release cycles, and a company's place on this page does not say which one it can close alone for a given engagement. A case study naming a specific app store submission or OS version says more about platform coverage than the service line entry by itself.
- If a company lists a mobile framework such as Appium, does that confirm it runs tests against real handsets?
- A framework name on a profile records only that the tool is used somewhere in the company's practice. It does not say whether the tool drives a physical device, an emulator farm or a mobile browser. Appium, for example, can target any of the three, and this page does not distinguish between them. A case study built around a real-device release is stronger evidence of hardware coverage than the framework name by itself.
- Does a security focus tag mean a company's mobile testing process holds an independent security certification?
- No. The tag can be earned through penetration testing evidence instead of a certificate, so it does not by itself confirm an independently audited process. A confirmed certificate of any kind, ISO or otherwise, is on record for only 7 of the 41 companies in this composition. Because a mobile app typically collects device identifiers and location data, ask directly which certification, if any, covers the proposed engagement rather than reading the tag as a compliance stand-in.

Every fact about a company comes from a listed source. A field without a source stays empty. A certificate counts as confirmed only when a registry, certificate or auditor report backs it; a certificate the company only claims about itself is published separately, under that label. Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
