What "test automation" means in this table
Every company on this page lists test automation as a service it sells; that is the qualifying fact for this axis. The Automation first tag asks for more than that listing, and 31 of the 66 companies meet the fuller bar. For the other 35 the service is on the site and the number that would back it is not.
Nearshore delivery splits the list two ways, headquarters does not
Two tags on this page describe delivery geography. Nearshore for the EU applies to 28 of the 66 companies and Nearshore for the USA to 14 of the 66, and only 6 companies carry both. That leaves 30 of the 66 carrying exactly one of the two tags and 30 carrying neither, so a delivery footprint that covers both regions is the exception on this list rather than the shape most companies here have.
Headquarters is a separate field, and it does not track the Nearshore for the USA tag the way it might look at first glance. 16 of the 66 companies are headquartered in the United States, two more than carry the Nearshore for the USA tag, but only 4 companies sit in both groups at once. Twelve US-headquartered companies on this list have no delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America on record, and ten companies with the Nearshore for the USA tag are headquartered somewhere other than the United States. The two totals sit close to each other while the overlap between the groups stays small, which is evidence that the two fields do not move together.
A second discipline alongside automation
Thirteen of the 66 companies carry the Embedded team model tag, a commitment recorded in two fields at once rather than in the service list alone.
Two tags mark a second discipline published alongside automation. Performance engineering applies to 9 of the 66 companies, and 5 of those 9 also meet the Automation first bar, leaving 4 that publish a throughput or latency metric without a matching automation case study. Security focus applies to 7 of the 66, and 6 of those 7 also meet the Automation first bar, leaving 1 that does not. The overlap is high in both directions, and the companies outside it publish the metric for one discipline and not for the other.
The narrowest tags on this page
Five of the eleven tags on this page apply to 4 companies or fewer, and each rests on one published number specific to that tag. Device lab coverage applies to DeviQA, QualityLogic, QATestLab and PLUS QA. Accessibility specialists applies to Vervali Systems and PLATO. Crowdtesting at scale applies to Applause and UNGUESS. Fast onboarding applies to QATestLab again and to CHEQ Systems. Regulated industries applies to BetterQA alone. Four of these five groups have no company in common with each other; QATestLab is the one company that appears in two of them.
A verified certificate of any kind is recorded for only 9 of the 66 companies on this page. That scarcity is part of why Regulated industries stays at one company: the certificate pool it draws two from is already narrow before the two-certificate condition is applied.
How this ranking was put together
Membership is computed from the profile, not chosen: companies appear here when they list Test automation among their services, as their own profile states. Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
The table compares the fields that decide this axis: frameworks, case studies, published rates, plus the number of verified reviews on external platforms. Rates, minimum project size and onboarding time carry the source they came from next to the value.
- Automation first: Test automation is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a coverage or regression time metric.
- Nearshore for the EU: At least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova.
- Nearshore for the USA: At least one delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America.
- Embedded team model: The dedicated team engagement model is offered, and at least one published case study.
- Performance engineering: Performance testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a throughput or latency metric.
- Security focus: Security testing is offered, together with either penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, and at least one published case study.
- Device lab coverage: A published device lab of 100 real devices or more, with a source.
- Accessibility specialists: Accessibility testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports an accessibility conformance metric.
- Crowdtesting at scale: The crowdtesting engagement model is offered, and a published tester pool of 10,000 people or more, with a source.
- Fast onboarding: A published onboarding time of 14 days or less, with a source.
- Regulated industries: At least two verified certificates from ISO 13485, HITRUST CSF, PCI QSA and ISO/IEC 27001.
The criteria for this axis are on the methodology page, together with field definitions and the rule for editorial order. Changes of order are recorded in the changelog.
Questions
- Does an external reviews count of zero mean the same thing as no reviews field at all?
- No, and this list has both cases. 23 of the 66 companies have no external reviews field filled in at all. 40 of the 66 have at least one verified review on an external platform on record. The remaining 3 have the field filled, a platform on record, with a review count of zero, which is a different fact from having no field.
- Can we take the automated test suite with us if we switch vendors later?
- A written contract should state who owns the test code and the page-object layer under it, because an automated suite is a deliverable that has to keep executing after the team that wrote it leaves: the next team needs the same framework version, the same runner and the same locator strategy the original authors picked, and none of that survives a handover by itself. 49 of the 66 companies on this list name at least one framework in their profile, which is the only published clue to whether a suite would be written against a runner other teams already know or against a wrapper the vendor maintains itself. The other 17 list test automation as a service without naming the framework behind it. A suite handed over as a repository the client's own pipeline can run is a different deliverable from one that executes only where the vendor set it up, and no field on this page separates the two.
- Who is responsible for fixing a test that starts failing on and off after the automation suite is delivered?
- A flaky test, one that fails and then passes on the same code with nothing changed in between, creates ongoing maintenance work that a one-time build fee does not usually cover. Whether that work falls to the vendor or lands back on the client's own team depends on the engagement model attached to the contract, and 48 of the 66 companies on this list publish at least one engagement model in their profile, while 18 name none. A published model is only a starting point for that conversation, since none of the models listed here specify test maintenance as a line item, and a model name in a profile does not say which side absorbs that recurring work once the suite is running in production.
- How can we verify that an automated suite will actually shorten the time a regression run takes in CI before we sign a contract?
- A case study is the main public evidence most companies on this list can point to for a change in run time, since none of them publish a general benchmark that would apply across projects. 45 of the 66 companies publish at least one case study, and 21 publish none, so for those 21 a claim about a faster regression run has no supporting document behind it on this page. Even where a case study exists, its numbers describe one client's codebase and one starting point, and a run time figure from a different project does not transfer automatically to a new one. A number from a past project should be checked against the client's own current baseline before it is used to size a new engagement.

Every fact about a company comes from a listed source. A field without a source stays empty. A certificate counts as confirmed only when a registry, certificate or auditor report backs it; a certificate the company only claims about itself is published separately, under that label. Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
