The two largest tag groups and where they overlap
Automation first reaches 13 of the 29 companies in this composition, the largest tag group on this page. Nearshore for the EU reaches 12, the second largest. Eight companies carry both tags: ScienceSoft, DeviQA, QA Madness, Luxe Quality, a1qa, QAwerk, appmatics GmbH and BetterQA. Five companies carry Automation first without Nearshore for the EU, and four companies carry Nearshore for the EU without Automation first: each group's remaining members belong to a different part of the composition. Seven of the 29 companies carry no tag on this page at all: Coderio, Lotus Quality Assurance, Testrig Technologies, Testriq QA Lab, iBeta Quality Assurance, Testbytes and TestVagrant.
Case study titles compared with the tag on record
QA Wolf publishes case studies whose titles each state a quantified outcome: Drata's QA cycles ran 86% faster, Thirty Madison reached 10x test coverage during a replatforming project, and Lifesum cut its mobile regression time in half. QA Wolf's tags on this page are Automation first and Embedded team model. MuukTest writes its case study titles the same way, naming a figure for one client each time: Slope cut regression execution time by 80% using 203 automated tests, Counter Tools reached 75% test coverage in 30 days, Pienso reached 85% coverage while surfacing 28 previously unknown bugs, GrowerIQ automated a regression suite described as thousands of steps, and Courtroom5 built 250 automated test cases in 60 hours. MuukTest's tag on this page is Performance engineering. iXie Gaming names a figure of its own in every title: a mid-size mobile studio cut post-launch bugs by 42%, a slot games client saw 99.9% bug-free releases, and defect leakage dropped 98% in MMORPG titles. iXie Gaming's tag on this page is Device lab coverage. A case study title states what a company chose to publish about one engagement, and the tag a company carries here follows the condition its own record meets.
Certificates behind Security focus, and the one company inside Regulated industries
Two of the 29 companies in this composition hold a verified certificate, and only one of the two appears in either tag group discussed here. Security focus reaches six companies: ScienceSoft, DeviQA, QA Madness, QATestLab, QAwerk and BetterQA. Its condition is satisfied either by penetration testing or by a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate alongside a published case study, so five of these six reach the tag through the penetration testing route, which the certificate route does not reach for them. Regulated industries reaches exactly one company, BetterQA, and its condition asks for at least two verified certificates from a fixed list of four. That list is why a verified certificate and this tag are separate facts on this page: the second certificate holder here is outside both groups, because the standard it was audited against is not one of the four the tag names, however solid the audit behind it.
How this ranking was put together
Membership is computed from the profile, not chosen: companies appear here when they list Appium among the frameworks and tools they work with, as their own profile states. Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
The table compares the fields that decide this axis: case studies, published rates, team size, plus the number of verified reviews on external platforms. Rates, minimum project size and onboarding time carry the source they came from next to the value.
- Automation first: Test automation is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a coverage or regression time metric.
- Nearshore for the EU: At least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova.
- Embedded team model: The dedicated team engagement model is offered, and at least one published case study.
- Performance engineering: Performance testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a throughput or latency metric.
- Security focus: Security testing is offered, together with either penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, and at least one published case study.
- Device lab coverage: A published device lab of 100 real devices or more, with a source.
- Nearshore for the USA: At least one delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America.
- Fast onboarding: A published onboarding time of 14 days or less, with a source.
- Regulated industries: At least two verified certificates from ISO 13485, HITRUST CSF, PCI QSA and ISO/IEC 27001.
The criteria for this axis are on the methodology page, together with field definitions and the rule for editorial order. Changes of order are recorded in the changelog.
Questions
- We need our mobile app tested on real handsets. Does a company listed against this framework sell that work?
- Not the two together, with one exception. The framework is defined in this catalog as covering native and hybrid mobile apps and nothing else, yet mobile app testing appears as a published service on 18 of the 29 profiles here. A counted, sourced device lab appears on five profiles, at 300, 400, 500, 600 and 3,000 devices. Four of those five keep the device count and the service claim on separate rows: no device-lab profile among them sells mobile app testing, and no profile selling it publishes a device count. The fifth, the profile with the 600-device lab, publishes both facts at once. Across the rest of the composition, the service claim and the hardware figure sit on separate rows.
- We want a team embedded alongside our own for ongoing work on this framework. Does the absence of the Embedded team model tag rule a company out?
- Not by itself. Nine of the 29 profiles carry that tag. The other 20 split in two: nine publish no engagement model at all, and eleven publish a model that is something else. Read from the tag alone those two groups look the same, though only one of them has stated any way of working at all. That difference is the one a shortlist can act on, and it sits in the engagement model field rather than in the tag.
- Our app is built natively for iOS and Android, with no shared codebase. Does anyone name the platform makers' own test tools?
- Five profiles do. Three of the five name both platform-native automation frameworks alongside this cross-platform one. Of the other two, one names the Android-side framework only and the other names the iOS-side framework only. The remaining 24 profiles name this framework and no platform-native tool at all. For a buyer running two separate native codebases, that is the whole of the published starting point: five profiles that name at least one platform-native tool alongside this one, and 24 whose tooling record covers both platforms through a single cross-platform entry.

Every fact about a company comes from a listed source. A field without a source stays empty. A certificate counts as confirmed only when a registry, certificate or auditor report backs it; a certificate the company only claims about itself is published separately, under that label. Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
