How the applicability tags split this list
Automation first is the largest group on this page, reaching 12 of the 21 companies: QA Wolf, DeviQA, QA Madness, QualityLogic, QASource, BugRaptors, Luxe Quality, a1qa, QAble, Savarian.tech, appmatics GmbH and BetterQA. Nearshore for the EU reaches 10 of the 21. Seven of those ten also carry Automation first: DeviQA, QA Madness, Luxe Quality, a1qa, Savarian.tech, appmatics GmbH and BetterQA. The remaining three carry Nearshore for the EU without Automation first: AskYourQA, Qytera Quality GmbH and SQA Service.
Embedded team model reaches 7 of the 21, and all seven also carry Automation first, so the two tags never separate on this page. Four of the seven embedded-team companies also carry Nearshore for the EU: DeviQA, QA Madness, a1qa and appmatics GmbH. The other three, QA Wolf, QASource and QAble, do not carry Nearshore for the EU. Performance engineering reaches another 5: QualityLogic, QASource, BugRaptors, MuukTest and Qytera Quality GmbH. Three of the five, QualityLogic, QASource and BugRaptors, also carry Automation first. MuukTest carries no other tag on this page; Qytera Quality GmbH is the company already named above for carrying Nearshore for the EU without Automation first.
Nearshore for the USA reaches 4 of the 21: QASource, a1qa, ILoveMyQA and SQA Service. Two of the four, a1qa and SQA Service, also carry Nearshore for the EU, so both list a delivery location on each side of the Atlantic. QASource and ILoveMyQA carry no EU-facing nearshore tag.
Device lab coverage reaches 3 of the 21: DeviQA, QualityLogic and iXie Gaming. Two of the three, DeviQA and QualityLogic, also carry Automation first; iXie Gaming carries no other tag on this page.
Security focus reaches 3 of the 21: DeviQA, QA Madness and BetterQA. All three also carry both Automation first and Nearshore for the EU, and no company on this page carries Security focus without carrying those two tags as well.
Regulated industries reaches 1 company: BetterQA, which also carries Automation first, Nearshore for the EU and Security focus. DeviQA carries five of the eight applicability tags used on this axis, Embedded team model, Device lab coverage, Automation first, Security focus and Nearshore for the EU, more than any other company on this page. Testrig Technologies, iBeta Quality Assurance and Coderio carry no applicability tag on this axis at all.
What the certificate and data-protection fields show
Verified certificates are held by 2 of the 21 companies on this page, and only one of the two carries Regulated industries. That tag counts certificates from a fixed list of four, so a certificate outside the list leaves a company without the tag however solid the audit behind it: one of the two holders clears the tag with two qualifying certificates, and the other holds a single certificate that the list does not name. A verified certificate and a tag are therefore separate facts here, and the first does not imply the second. Full definitions for every tag on this axis, including the certificate list behind Regulated industries, are listed in the tag methodology.
A stated position on signing a BAA or a GDPR DPA is filled in for 1 of the 21 companies here, the least complete of the fields tracked on this page; the other 20 have not published a position on it either way. That is a separate question from the certificate count above: a company can hold a verified certificate without a stated position on data-processing agreements, and the reverse also holds.
How this ranking was put together
Membership is computed from the profile, not chosen: companies appear here when they list Playwright among the frameworks and tools they work with, as their own profile states. Position in a ranking cannot be bought. Paid options are limited to the extended profile, labelled sponsor slots and lead forms, and none of them affect tags or order.
The table compares the fields that decide this axis: case studies, published rates, team size, plus the number of verified reviews on external platforms. Rates, minimum project size and onboarding time carry the source they came from next to the value.
- Automation first: Test automation is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a coverage or regression time metric.
- Nearshore for the EU: At least one delivery location in the EU or the EEA, or in Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova.
- Embedded team model: The dedicated team engagement model is offered, and at least one published case study.
- Performance engineering: Performance testing is offered as a service, and at least one published case study reports a throughput or latency metric.
- Nearshore for the USA: At least one delivery location in Canada, Mexico, Central America or South America.
- Device lab coverage: A published device lab of 100 real devices or more, with a source.
- Security focus: Security testing is offered, together with either penetration testing or a verified ISO/IEC 27001 certificate, and at least one published case study.
- Regulated industries: At least two verified certificates from ISO 13485, HITRUST CSF, PCI QSA and ISO/IEC 27001.
The criteria for this axis are on the methodology page, together with field definitions and the rule for editorial order. Changes of order are recorded in the changelog.
Questions
- A profile can list Playwright next to just one other tool or next to a dozen more. Does a longer list mean Playwright plays a smaller part in the company's actual testing work?
- No, at least not from list length alone. The framework field records every automation tool a company reports, and it carries no weight for how much of the work centers on Playwright. The shortest published list here pairs Playwright with one other tool; the longest names fourteen tools besides it, and both count as offering Playwright. A two-tool profile and a fifteen-tool profile are treated the same way by this field, though Playwright is a far larger share of the shorter list by simple count. Length measures breadth here; depth is a separate question the catalog does not record.
- If a company's headquarters sits outside Europe, is the Nearshore for the EU tag off the table for it?
- No. The tag reads from delivery location alone: a company qualifies once it reports at least one location in the EU, the EEA, Ukraine, Georgia, Serbia or Moldova, and headquarters address plays no part in the condition. Two of the ten companies carrying Nearshore for the EU report a headquarters in the United States, and both still qualify through a delivery location listed separately from that headquarters. The other eight are themselves based in Poland, Romania, Germany or Bulgaria, so a regional headquarters is common on this list without being what the tag measures. Headquarters and delivery footprint are two different fields here.
- We would be one client among many. How big are the companies that put Playwright on their tool list?
- Most are small to mid-sized. Seven report a headcount band of 51 to 200 people and six report 11 to 50, so thirteen of the twenty-one sit under two hundred. Two report more than a thousand people, three report 501 to 1,000, two report 201 to 500, and one reports under ten. A band counts everyone at the company, and no field records how many of those people write automated tests, so a thousand-person band and a fifty-person band settle nothing about the size of the team that would take on a Playwright project.

Every fact about a company comes from a listed source. A field without a source stays empty. A certificate counts as confirmed only when a registry, certificate or auditor report backs it; a certificate the company only claims about itself is published separately, under that label. Vendors can request a correction at hello@qa-rating.com. A correction is applied when it comes with a public source.
